Jungle Scout Review 2019
From a complete beginner
You know there is money to be made selling on Amazon and it sounds SO simple but how exactly do you select, predict and profit from the RIGHT products?
Well of course, you need a product research tool and this may just be the one to take you from swimming in options so you never get going to strategically handpick exactly what is going to aid your success at finding a product niche that works for you.
Anything you do online should be data-driven, and although it is possible to manually research products to turn them into nice profits, it makes business sense to use a tool.
Firstly, you are going to need the Jungle Scout Chrome Extension. This will allow you to search product data on Amazon such as average monthly sales and the average price of a particular item you may want to note, to work out your profit margins.
No profit, no business, it’s that simple.
The google chrome extension runs on Amazon.
Using Jungle Scout to find the best products, simply type in the product you want to search e.g. ‘headphones’ then click the extension button and the Jungle Scout Product Tracker gives you the data you need from product name to price and brand with the click of a button you can study how many reviews, sales and opportunity score to strategically pick out the right products for YOUR BRAND.
You want high demand products but consider seasonality – so be sure sales are spread out for a steady prediction over the year.
Google Trends can help you with your research surrounding this key point.
This is where your profit margins come in.
Be sure not to select products with too low a profit margin as it just won’t be worth your efforts.
On the flip side, avoid too high… bear in mind buyer behaviour and if you, yourself would risk a high priced product from a new seller.
Pay attention to reviews here, if a product has too many – then it will be very hard to compete as buyers tend to go with a well-reviewed product.
Choose products that have low competition.
Product research can be a headache and having the whole product database at your fingertips can feel overwhelming, so pick your preferences and TURN OFF the product niches that do not appeal to your product ideas.
Now, something not everyone is going to be straight about – pick products you WANT to sell.
Product research tools are great, and with all the tools and resources in the world, you can pretty much sell anything online if others are… BUT why sell something that you have zero emotional attachment to?
This is not a get rich quick selling products on Amazon review – business is hard, including online business so you may as well invest your time and energy into something you are at least a little passionate about as it will carry you through the inevitable times you face challenges or dry spells.
For example, make a definitive checklist of non-negotiable categories you will avoid, products you at least have an interest in and what will sell well on Amazon in terms of profit margins.
Plus, you need to be aware of not drowning alongside your competitors' so low competition, as we already mentioned factors in too.
The extension is super simple. Just type in the products you plan to sell and click the button (once you have downloaded the extension) and Jungle Scout will give you a list of trends and stats.
Pay particular attention to profit margins. We can’t stress this enough including sponsored products. Take note of these with caution as data may be skewed obviously because if the seller is paying, then uptake will naturally be higher for that particular item.
No profits = No business.
If you are looking for a niche hunter tool, Jungle Scout uses a highly-sophisticated algorithm called the Listing Quality Score (LQS) to provide you with sales estimated, seller rankings and revenue data.
But how does Jungle Scout calculate the units sold of each product?
By tracking the individual products sales figures for a maximum of 60 days.
The premium option would be to go for the web app, alongside the google chrome extension.
Note the revenue and the reviews so you can grasp potential profits.
Another cool feature is associated keywords so when it comes to your listing, you can use these in your product description.
The web app will tell you what users are typing into Amazon when searching for your item and you can use this information to get your descriptions on your product page set up to match what your potential customers are actively seeking.
Take your time here, the keyword scout feature will give you an ‘exact match’ and ‘broad match search volume’ to aid your ranking on Amazon.
What don’t we like?
Here’s the honest bit, the Jungle Scout web app and Chrome extension are separate so that’s two accounts and payment plans if you want both. We think it’s worth it but if you are just trialing your options as a newbie Amazon seller, we would suggest going for the web app and seeing for yourself just how useful and insightful this tool is.
Without it, you’ll become just another average Joe stabbing away in the dark on what is THE ruler of e-commerce.
Third party selling makes sense but without the evidenced-based research, you will just become another generic over hopeful seller in oversaturated markets.
Jungle scout gives you the edge on data-driven purchasing options however there is still room for your input. Factors such as seasons and trends require your subjective judgement.
Of course, once you have completed your product research, you are going to need to actually source your products from your suppliers.
We highly recommend AliExpress!
You are going to want to request a sample and specifically ask key questions about ordering product from your chosen suppliers but for the purposes of this article, we will tackle this step in more detail soon.
Research, research, research is key to stand out from the estimated over one million small business sellers last time we checked the stats.
Ultimately, what do YOU WANT TO SELL and utilize Jungle Scout to gain a competitive edge when scouting your product itinerary.
After all, it’s a jungle out there and in our opinion, without the right tool, you’ll get eaten alive!
